It is very empowering when you recognise the next step to take in developing your business.
Useful too if you appreciate that this journey also requires commitment, focus, effort and energy.
It finally dawned on me that my next step to help and support clients, involved diving into the mystique of Marketing and Selling; and a whole new world opened. It also made me more aware of the value I place on myself.
During the last few months, I have focussed on improving how I market myself more effectively. A huge learning which I have actually enjoyed. I have been remarkably busy.
This is a crucial area which I have quite successfully avoided for a variety of reasons; investment cost and plodding on at my base level of understanding.
I had the time to focus. My small Bed and Breakfast has been closed for several months and that gave me an opportunity to really concentrate on my Therapy and Healing work. And importantly to spend time and give effort to learn from an Expert. The Universe presented me with the space and my Therapy Business which ticks over, was going to benefit.
I have been resistant in seeking professional Marketing and Selling guidance on the grander scale because of the usual suspects:
- I can crack on myself and I know folks see me (so I thought).
- The money side of things, ie.the cost kept me dipping in small scale.
- I was resistant to the whole idea, I thought I could manage myself.
- I certainly did the work at that base level and rewards were good but pretty spasmodic.
Previously I was under the impression that I was Posting to my Community regularly. Making reasonable effort in sharing my message around Stress, Anxiety, and the effect they directly play in the manifestation and presentation of a physical health symptom.
I was putting in effort (so I THOUGHT) but the results and return for my effort, were haphazard.
My goal over the Spring and Summer was that I wanted to create a Membership Group for Women 50+ ‘Live the Life You Want Club‘. I became part of Tribe and quickly discovered that much learning and application was required to create my Membership.
I enjoyed the learning and I now have my Membership Group for Women 50+. However that is only part of the journey.
That done, it then clicked that I also needed more help with Copy. Added to that I recognised that I could improve and incorporate earlier programmes of work to share with my expected growing and receptive audience. Project Number 2 was then undertaken!
I am now more aware that care, effort, and hard graft is involved with Marketing my business, and certainly some naivety has gone in that respect. I am learning that I am a work in progress. If I want to become more established as a Therapist and Health Coach, then the choice to succeed is mine. That seems to involve more learning and insights from those who are Marketing experts.
And I am now working at a deeper level with Veronica Pullen. She is someone I have learned from frequently over the years.
There is however a niggly voice in the back of my head saying:
“Hey Susan, I thought this learning and implementing was supposed to ease effort and give you more free time?”
But actually, there is something else I am aware of.
I need to spend time and effort in implementation so that eventually, I will reap the rewards.
No quick fix!
No magic wand!
And I feel the different energy surrounding me. I sense a shifting of the value I place on me.
Yes I want to help and support my clients in the best possible way. However
I want to benefit financially and I value what I offer within my Health Coaching Practice.
