Endometriosis Awareness Month

March 13, 2023 by susan

March is Endometriosis Awareness Month and is highlighted all over the world.

It is estimated that 176 million women suffer from this debilitating disease, and it is a chief cause of female infertility.

Statistically, one woman in 10 struggles with this medical problem.

Quote:
“Endometriosis is a condition in which cells similar to the lining of the uterus, or endometrium, grow outside the uterus.
Endometriosis often involves the pelvic tissue and can envelop the ovaries and fallopian tubes. It can affect nearby organs, including the bowel and bladder”.

The ripple effect of this illness can impact personal and professional relationships, mental health, and quality of life.

Is it hereditary?

This is not proven.
Just because your mother and grandmother had the problem so …….therefore, an expectation or acceptance of your condition seems apparent.

A chronic health condition can be explored holistically so that easing of symptoms and levels of healing can be achieved.

There’s often an emotional root cause behind endometriosis and finding that is the first step to healing your condition.

Are you ready to explore how you can escape the pain of your debilitating condition/s?

Download my free eBook ‘Healing Your Reproductive Condition’, which offers insight, practical solutions and focuses on easing emotional fears so that you assist in your healing.

Shingles. A health journey

October 28, 2022 by susan

My Shingles experience is now 7 weeks in.
I have written an earlier Post,
Shingles is a Painful Experience
detailing the first 3 weeks of the experience .

At 5 weeks in, I wakened in the morning and my mental state of mind, had shifted.

I felt brighter.  My antisocial and world just leave me alone attitude, had gone.
I felt considerably better.

A few days ago I stopped the painkillers. I felt able to test this. It is a test.
I had taken painkillers for 5 weeks, on my ever-reducing plan regarding quantity.

And on a couple of days I have popped a couple of strong prescriptive pain relief.

Here is a point to note.
I think for some of that time I was wrong.
I probably should have taken the pain relief on a regular basis for a bit longer before I decided to test how long I could go between taking the pills.

During the last 4 weeks I was introduced to another medical prescription to potentially aid the healing of the nerves from Shingles.
That is also intended to ease discomfort.

I have sought medical advice frequently in the last couple of months because much has been going on.

Balance in all things in life is required.
Ignore it at your peril

In my case, 2022 saw my stress levels fairly much on overdrive with no cruise facility being taken.

However, when I needed to have guidance and medication my Dr’s Surgery has been accessible, and I am very satisfied with my discussions etc.
I feel fortunate where that’s concerned.

There is a balance required in how one treats and manages a health ailment.

The main change I made, because I could, was I stopped working.
I was ill.

Regarding Shingles, I will share that:

  1. If you have body discomfort for some days, it seems to move around, you don’t know what’s going on, and then you find a rash, you have 3 days to get the medication, the antivirals.
  2. A first occurrence of the Shingles virus is an acute illness.
  3. An acute illness requires (if you choose) medical intervention.
  4. Recurring Shingles is a chronic illness; medical and self-healing opportunities will benefit.

Professionally in my role as a Lifestyle Prescription Health Coach and EFT and Reiki practitioner, I offer stress management remedies and self-healing education.

These assist in the reduction and discomfort of a chronic ailment, and aid recovery.

This has been a horrible experience but I am a very different person from about a month ago.
I am quietly back to work and seeing 1-1 clients.

I offer a free call for those enquiring about my Stress, Anxiety and Chronic Health Practice.

Perimenopause and Menopause Documentary

May 3, 2022 by susan

Women’s Health Matters

Davina McCall’s Channel 4 documentary, ‘Sex, Mind and the Menopause’ is a must watch for women over 40.

Full of important information and the new medical findings are illuminating.

It was interesting to note the availability imbalance of new HRT treatments within UK.

Taking consistent exercise and eating a Mediterranean style diet were mentioned as part of good self-care behaviours.

Lifestyle habits play a vital role in how one manages this unavoidable and frequently debilitating phase in women’s health.

In my work as a Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coach I help my clients find the root cause to a chronic health condition.
With respect to Perimenopause and Menopause I highlight that stress reducing tools and practices are also important.

Stress heightens the physical responses in Perimenopause and Menopause symptoms.
Taking responsibility and not being 100% reliant on medical interventions, need to be considered.

Check out my eBook ‘Healing Your Reproductive Condition‘ which shares a variety of information to help relieve reproductive problems.
The eBook is not Menopause specific.
However, implementing healthy habits and understanding how stress aggravates physical and emotional health symptoms, will help you to lower the intensity of Perimenopause and Menopause.

Elderly Parents and Family Dynamics

May 2, 2022 by susan

Elderly Parents, family dynamics, and finding your voice.
Midlife Relationship Recovery Workshop

I recently read a very good example of how family dynamics can be manipulated by elderly parents.
Bel Mooney is a skilled journalist and responds to reader’s emotional and relationship problems in Saturday’s Daily Mail.

These family problems can easily be difficult to manage.

And that is a massive understatement.

The problem page post made for uncomfortable reading.
However, the writer who detailed her problem received valuable guidance, expertly and compassionately delivered, and in a straight talking manner leaving no room for ambiguity.

Perhaps you feel torn emotionally whilst trying to navigate solutions around elderly parents’ care.

You want to embrace life now that you have easing of restrictions.
Freedoms are back on offer.

This is the perfect time to find your voice and empower your sense of deserving.

This can be achieved with love and care, so that the life you crave can once more be open to moments of ease and pleasure.

I am running a Midlife Relationship Recovery Workshop on Tuesday 17th May. (Zoom).
09.45-11.30 (+Q&A). Check out details.

If you have a relationship problem going on with your partner or a family member, and feel the need for adjustment and resolution to frustrations, please check out the Workshop details.

Introductory Offer of £27.

Female health-intimate health

April 12, 2022 by susan

Help – the steroids are not working – Helping women with refractory vulvar lichen sclerosus.

Waiting lists for Women’s Gynaecological problems in UK are at a critical level.

I share this informative Post on an area of health which is still not discussed more openly, due to the sensitivity of the subject.
It informs on ‘women’s bits’ ‘problems down below’.

For those enlightened. it offers information on Lichen Sclerosis a problem affecting the most intimate parts of the female anatomy.

The Post:

“Help – the steroids are not working – Helping women with refractory vulvar lichen sclerosus”, details how best to manage this difficult and not uncommon health condition.

Lichen Sclerosus is commonly seen as a problem affecting women, but men and children can struggle physically and emotionally too.

The Post offers clear advice on how to treat the symptoms, and highlights the importance of checking symptoms to dismiss more serious health challenges e.g. Vulva cancer.

Professional advice is shared on the continued use of steroid cream to keep L.S. conditions controlled, not just when flare ups occur.

This health problem requires highlighting due to the levels of e.g. embarrassment, shame, depression, which stop many women from seeking help to manage this debilitating condition sooner, rather than later, when the symptoms have had months or years to escalate in intensity.

Thorough investigation is required because Vulva Cancer needs to be checked for elimination purposes.
There are several health problems which may need to be eliminated, and essential is the regular use of steroid ointment to manage this chronic condition.
Steroid cream or ointment is commonly considered to be only used sparingly, but treating L.S. requires regular use.
There is an excellent Facebook page specific to this sensitive subject titled:
lichen Sclerosus-sclerosis-UK Support Group for Women.

I offer an article I wrote titled: Lichen Sclerosis: Female Genital Health for The Lifestyle Medicine Summit in 2021.
I am a Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coach.
My article offers general information on the subject.
