I recently had my ideal client. The changes she achieved were just wonderful. She was ready, willing, focussed to truly do the work; to make the change, to unravel the source of her debilitating feelings.
I work 1-1 and Skype.
Hi, I’m Susan Cowe Miller, Holistic Healing Practitioner and Mentor. I help people with stress and anxiety, facilitating a moving on from fairly heavy emotional trauma, which has a compounded effect on one’s physical health.
I want to share today why I got into this particular aspect of work. About 15 years ago, my life was very stressful, and three big life events slammed into my family setup. My children and I came out the other end of it; my husband sadly died.
I had a strong sense that the stress and anxiety I had gone through would have an effect on me at some point. I had no idea then, what effect it would have, but I had an intuitive understanding that the emotional distress would have consequences. I wasn’t going to come away without being touched by it at a fundamental level.
In time I discovered Reiki, and then EFT Tapping and Matrix Reimprinting. I now use these and my Counselling skills as my main modalities to help people move on from their emotional dramas. Because you know, there really is a huge amount of light at the end of the tunnel.
Life can be joyous, fulfilling, and we do not need to live in the past. We can brush it off by dealing with our demons. The best work I do is when I’m working with a client who is ready to address what’s been stopping them from moving on; a client who has an innate feeling that there is joy that life can offer. A client who is a little like me.

There is light at the end of the tunnel, and there are ways to go about it.

I wonder why there is a need to tidy and have all things in order when going away for a while. Is it because we know we don’t want to come back to a mess? Why can’t we keep to a good routine; have the house tidy all the time? I know exactly what I want and need to do re housework/office work, I certainly know what I should do but often I just don’t do it. (at least I’m not running ‘I must be perfect!). However I’m feeling much less burdened at the moment because the house and my filing is in order. And that feels good!
So where does this ideal of keeping a tidy house come from? Is it an old fashioned hand me down habit?
Does the younger generation feel committed to e.g. tidying one’s desk or home before going away on holiday?
Is this behaviour engrained in our pysche or do we need to work at it?
I have followed in my mother';s footsteps and I try, try I say to keep things tidy. I am unfortunately I fear a naturally untidy person. The contradiction is I hate clutter; it upsets me but I have to work at keeping things tidy. When we left for our long holiday I left the house tidy and the lovely Trusted Housesitters had it looking great for our return. Perfect mutual respect.
I think I may be doing Airbnb because it makes me keep the house clean. Who knows? I seem to need forced into doing it that’s for sure.
Anyway a cluttered house is just the same as a cluttered headspace and my message is:
A cluttered headspace with overwhelm and a generosity or stupidity to just add something else to ‘the to do list’ just makes no sense. A cluttered mind does not help our emotional or physical health. A feeling of calmness and some control is pleasurable -a cluttered and messy headspace just layers frustration.
