Infertility and ectopic pregnancy

November 23, 2020 by susan

Many therapists and healers are intuitively drawn to help, support, teach as a result of a personal experience experience.
I was a primary teacher for 30 years and when life turned around on a sixpence and I was led into the world of healing.

After much learning from others, experiencing the interaction with clients, hey Presto, here I am.
Each stage in my professional journey naturally shaped my ability to help others investigate troublesome health symptoms. What grated and didn’t sit right got panned and Divine timing helped with everything else.
What is meant to be…..

It was over Sunday breakfast chatting with Herb that I somehow was taken to thinking about Tommy Cooper,(it came from discussing boiled eggs!) and he remembered seeing Tommy die on stage on TV.
It was his time.
We discussed the statement, ‘When your time is up, it’s up.’
And that led me to thinking about the health glitches I had experienced when trying to conceive; and intimate health stuff which later presented.

We all have preconceived ideas around certain health and life scenarios.
Why? Because they have been locked into our subconscious. We have all heard parents, family, or even teachers drop the nuggets which we have chosen to inadvertently store. They shape our landscape and can be very influential in how we wander through life.

But going back to the pregnancy issue, well I could write a book on that.
Suffice to say that I spent maybe 4 years trying to conceive.
My first husband and I were in Qatar in the early 1980s and all my Fertility investigations went on over there.

I, for some reason hoped my husband was to blame and a little sperm power enhancing might be the easy answer.
But no, I had stuff going on.

One test I had I will never forget was to flush my fallopian tubes- the memory is hazy because it was horrendous. But I think it was to blow, clean out the tubes.
I took an hour off a school day and said I’d be back. The joys of naivety.
My excellent Consultant (was not doing the procedure I found out, and his 2nd in charge, WTF), did the job.
Midway through the procedure I was almost screaming for a bottle of whisky, in a Moslem hospital.

‘It sounds a bit like a D&C without the anesthetic,’ was a comment from one of the lovely Irish nurses we socialised with in Doha when I reported my experience.

This debacle seemed to be partly, in my opinion, why I then experienced an Ectopic Pregnancy a few months later.
But, IMPORTANT POINT: my training and learning as a Lifestyle Prescriptions® Life Coach, (30 years on), has opened up a pinpoint Mind, Body Connection to why at a subconscious level, many women have an ectopic pregnancy. When I first discovered this, I could certainly relate to that possibility.

After the Ectopic Pregnancy when my wonderful Consultant, Mustafa Kleida saved my blocked tube, I did conceive within the next 6 months. My son was born by Caesarean Section. I did not dilate.

Again there is Mind, Body connection running amok here. I was not one of those ‘too posh to push’, rather more fearful of the birthing process and was just stuck at 5cms. It was not going to happen.
My mother had problems delivering me. I should have been a Caesarean birth but my mother tried to have a home delivery, and I had trouble emerging from the birth canal.
However It is not set in stone that just because your mother had ‘problems’ in childbirth that you will too.

Matrix Birth ReImprinting is excellent in dispelling birth anxieties.
If you have questions you keep asking yourself about WHY your body appears to fail you, DM for details of my £99 ‘Women’s Reproductive and Intimate Health Recovery Session’ soon to be available.

Family, Memories and Values

November 11, 2020 by susan

Last night I dreamt I went to ‘Fullerton’ again. Truly I did.
This Post may not be up to Daphne De Maurier’s ‘Rebecca’ standard but the emotions are real and heartfelt.
My hometown of Stewarton, in Ayrshire has a very popular historical Facebook activity . A good friend got in touch last night, shared a very old photo, asked if this house was ‘Fullerton’ and was my Great Aunt Liza in the photo.

I felt drawn to write this personal homage to family no longer with us in body, however certainly in spirit.

As a result of my enquiries, cousins have told me this photo is circa 1907.
Fashion experts please advise.
The story told to me by my father years ago was that Aunt Liza had a beau who was sadly killed during the very final days of WW1. She never married.

The Sunday Remembrance Celebration is on in the background as I first write. The photo shows ‘Fullerton’ and my Aunt Liza, but it also is a family photograph I have not seen before. And the taller lady in the foreground is my grandmother.
Aunt Liza next to her and Aunt Jeannie is the child.
My grandmother, Currie Barclay, died a couple of months before I was born so I did not know her. A gentle, kind lady by all accounts.
Graeme and Rachel; your Great GrandMother.

My Aunt Liza’s house, the Barclay family house, was where I would visit all the time as a small child until I found out about boys and other such fun things to share my spare moments.
Pancakes were always being made and taken back up the road to my home, a mere 3 minutes away.
I stayed there overnight on occasions as a very small child and remember the big stone hot water bottle.
Kinder more innocent days when it wasn’t incorrect or uncomfortable to say you that you had slept beside your auntie.
Another memory when aged 15 and my parents were away on their 25th Wedding Anniversary holiday to Malta, (my father served there during the WW2 Siege of Malta. I wrote his memoires of his time in Malta.( Malta Siege War Years 1940-1942 by Robert Templeton RAMC )
Again I stayed at Fullerton. (I had my own room; I feel I need to add that now. Pity)
Anyway one night I read the whole of what was then called, “10 Little Niggers” by Agatha Christie. I was knackered and told Liza I was ill, something was wrong with me. So I sneaked a day off school.
But then had to catch up with lessons which was a bit of a bummer!

Such powerful memories and I am working through a sad phase with regards to my family.
I am the oldest living member of my Barclay, Templeton line. Phew. I am working on embracing that. But it takes the legs from under me at times.
I suppose I liked the sense of knowing I was looked after by other older family members. Nurtured, loved, and kept in my place on occasion. I was a spirited child. I work to keep that spirited child strong and anchored within.

There are moments when reflection is good. Remembering what is important to you, whatever it is. This is most probably an age thing for me. In hindsight I scooted through life with its ups and downs. I do have my emotional scars and life lessons. All part of life’s rich tapestry.

But this photo really hit me at deep core level. It is important to me.

Question:
What values are important to you?

Values change over the course of one’s life.
This can be an enlightening exercise! I practice this with clients in my therapy work. Many of us are unaware of what is really important to us until we drill it right down That is when we can unravel emotional blocks, and negative beliefs. The stuff which can make our road in life that bit more bumpy.

Learn basics of EFT Tapping Points with Susan Cowe Miller

November 7, 2020 by susan

I have been strongly guided this week to make a teaching video sharing EFT Tapping Points so that you can help yourself to lower anxieties and stressors.

With all the potential for retriggering troublesome thoughts, heightened feelings of anger or frustration, fear or serious irritation that some folks,( I include myself here) will have experienced this week, I wish to share this new video.

EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) Tapping is a wondrous tool/technique to help you manage, reduce and clear stressful feelings, negative beliefs, and troublesome emotions.
Your physical health at a cellular level is strongly impacted by stress.
I have 3 short Lessons followed by a Q&A.

This simple and effective technique works at 2 levels:
1. A quick fix to help you manage your day
2. At a deeply transformational level to clear emotional trauma, deeply held negative beliefs, and trigger emotions.

Daydreaming while kettle boils

November 2, 2020 by susan

I was standing waiting for the kettle to boil, daydreaming and a probable revelation came to me.

This was early September and I had been feeling tired, lacking the drive required to focus on a couple of projects I’d taken a rest from.
I had spent the Summer months building and planning  my Live the Life You Want Club; a Membership and an exercise I enjoyed. Much tougher than I expected, and it kept me super busy. But that was only the first step to my membership. Even now it is evolving.

So I probably wore myself out.
You may know that I am an EFT practitioner and Overwhelm, Stress, Anxiety, Emotional Trauma are my Specialist areas.

So back to the kettle boiling and my sense of being more energized than during the recent few weeks. And something dawned on me. A thought, probably a reality.

This is the first time I have allowed myself to take proper time out in months. And so my body was responding.
It was taking its chance to do some mending. I recognized this and just meandered through the next few days. I did some sitting at the computer, gardening and when it was not too hot outside or raining, I went out on my electric bike with Herb. But I was not at all able to energize myself into the business side of things.

Besides the obvious fact that I had deserved to give myself a rest, it was strange because I had been very comfortable with all I’d been achieving. So, stress maybe wasn’t the sole driving force to my lethargy.

To get to the point of my story, I realized that the low feeling, the ‘God I can’t get focused!’ self-talk,  had something to do with allowing myself to feel sad, to heal a sadness.

My sister died in January of this year. Her funeral was 4 days before we were off to New Zealand and Australia for 5 weeks. My thoughts at that time, in the moments when I was able to focus on anything, were all over the place. In hind sight I was stunned by stress.
When was the funeral going to be? Would we get our holiday?
Those were the questions I had. I had no idea of the answers, and it does sound fairly crass.
I was deeply upset by the awareness that the development in her health could only be terminal. She was not going to get better. Divine timing intervened. Hellish time.

So today as I share my writing I realize that besides recharging my batteries, I was acknowledging a massive emotional trauma. And although I help others to better manage and work through stressors, trauma and anxieties, that does not make me immune to emotional pain. Yes I may have the tools and the understanding but I too ram up the blocks, the blinkers to shut out horrible realities.

Perhaps you can relate

But I acknowledged that I was feeling sad that day. It finally filtered through to my conscious brain.  And caused a little sadness and emotional pain.

Points I noticed

  1. Yes I had been working hard. But that was a choice. I want to build a membership and focus more keenly in a niched Health Coaching direction.
  2. My body was/is responding to my foot being taken off the pedal. My body grasped the opportunity to do some regenerative healing. It has re-jigged several things.

An example to help you to understand this point; please consider all the preparation for a holiday. You finish work, perhaps driven to have everything in place (many folks do this, and a pat on the back for those who do not).
When you arrive at your holiday destination sometimes your health takes a turn for the worse!  When you relax from a stress, your body says ‘Thank you, I will now do some healing’. And at a conscious level we do not like this experience because that is when we feel ill.
Perhaps you have had this happen to you and you have angrily thought: Why now when I am on holiday?

What I had probably been doing

Let’s assume (never something I recommend but needs must) I’ve been blocking feelings without conscious awareness.
During this period of time and up until now I have been thinking about my sister regularly. Asking her opinion, hearing her answers, missing her.
I am the only one left from my birth nuclear family: my mother, father, sister are gone, only me left. A tough penny when it dropped.

And you know, Life goes on… and that is what we must all strive for. Let us aim to get the most out of every day.
Use all our senses to feel, see, touch, taste, hear the good things that surround us.
If you are sensitive to mood swings, sense difficulty in finding the joy in life’s more wondrous moments, I suggest you search out tools and techniques to change your Mindset or emotional state. You do not need to stay in the low state.
That is only a belief, a self-punishment, or kept for a Secondary Gain. (Of course it an almost impossible thought for someone struggling with Depression to find the energy to try to undertake some Self-Healing).
EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique) Tapping is an excellent tool you can use as a quick fix to change heightened levels of stress and anxiety.
As a transformational tool to heal emotional trauma, strong negative beliefs and troublesome thoughts, it is widely practiced and achieves wondrous results.
I have been a work in progress for quite a while. We never stop learning.

So, the next time you are waiting for the kettle to boil, catch yourself and your idle thoughts. They are subtly trying to tell you something; something worthwhile.

Helpful Tip

Have a special little notebook for your observances.
Your senses are keen markers to what is going on within you. It might be fun to see if an intuitive bent comes out and you can acknowledge what you are being told.
You deserve; be kind to yourself

Tapping is used by

1. Thousands of people who want the Quick Fix to reduce feelings of eg. anger, helplessness, low confidence, low self-esteem so that they can then get on with the rest of the day.
2. Those who seek therapeutic help and guidance from an EFT Specialist to work through an emotionally troublesome problem. There will be 1-1 sessions over several weeks or months.
Very many Doctors, Counsellors, Therapists, Nurses, suggest EFT to patients or clients to practice as a homework tool, or to go and work with a Specialist EFT practitioner to work through emotional problems.

Emotional and physical health concerns

October 16, 2020 by susan

If you struggle with an emotional or physical health problem, perhaps you can see a correlation between my new learning within the great world of Marketing, and how you manage an emotional or physical health concern.
Marketing and Health topics attract millions of viewers who are eager to make self-improvement.

2 questions
1. Marketing question: How do I know if my Posts are being seen by the right people?
2. Health question: Where can I find out how to improve my physical and/or emotional health symptom?

You want to find answers and implement them

But the problems often arise when you have to maintain the effort and staying power. That’s the hard bit.
The same sticking points will keep tripping you up if you do not do the required work.
How many times have you asked the same question to Google, checked the answer and thought,
‘Ok I best go back and do all this again.’
And that’s because your brain has not had enough practice in remembering the answer. You don’t automatically remember. You haven’t completed the instructions often enough. You need to repeat the process again.

Gaining more clarity

When I invested in professional support and guidance to improve my Marketing message this year, I definitely had a shift in energy. My belief is strong to commit and implement my learnings, and that is proving most satisfying.
My Business is growing organically; less effort, evolving naturally and with more ease.
I can now help and support new clients because my message is clear, inviting and professional.

Think of the times you have felt enthused to discover and learn new techniques, to watch or listen to experts who share their gold dust. Perhaps you read specific books on health which relate to your chronic health symptom.
However the bottom line is that you struggle with your specific physical health problem.
It keeps coming back and upsetting you at many levels.

Chronic health symptoms present myriad problems.

They spoil easy flow and generally create obstacles in day to day life.
You may suffer with: a painful knee, a genital problem, a urinary issue, a heart palpitation, bloating, gut trouble, menstrual concerns, difficulty in conceiving, headaches.
And a question you may frequently ask is, “Why on earth does this keep happening to me?”

This is my area of expertise and skill: I help you to become more self-aware which has a positive knock on effect in self-healing.

3 questions for you

1. Do you take time to question WHY you struggle with stress and/or a chronic health condition?
2. How often does chronic pain disturb your sleep, or your day to day plans?
3. Do you fear that symptoms will escalate, become more difficult to manage because the Meds might stop working?

I can inform you that no amount of self-analysis will help you to resolve a recurring state of anxiety or a flair up of a chronic symptom. Because…..we seldom can get out of our own way.
In my case now that I am taking my self-promotion more seriously, investing more fully in professional help, I am reaping the rewards.
The same principle will work for you if you decide to invest with a trusted professional who can help you with your chronic health symptom.

The dictionary meaning of Chronic: 1 of 1 (of an illness) persisting for a long time or constantly recurring.

If you choose to take time and continue good practice, make the required little, micro changes which are asked of you, then you will experience positive health results which you will consider as beyond belief. You will marvel at the results. In Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coaching we ask for micro change, step by step, over some weeks. Your confidence grows as you find out that you can make the changes and this confidence, encourages the next step.

What needs to happen for you to improve your health?

  • You must want to improve your health
  • You need to be ready to improve your health
  • You take the necessary action

I expect you have sought professional medical advice, taken medications and routes to manage your painful or chronic symptom.
But you are your best medicine.
The Mind, Body connection is real. Your body only wants to heal. However it’s at this point that a new paradigm in many people’s psyche is required. New knowledge and a new appreciation of this information will be an advantage.

It is during the body’s healing phase, that we become ill. Pain may flair up and symptoms of illness are felt.
A Talk I gave earlier this year explains The 5 Points and Phases of an illness.
Put simply: When a stress is over, your body heals. It is automatic and done without you being able to control it.
Examples of when this may happen:

  • Whilst on holiday relaxing you may become ill or feel off colour
  • When someone retires they may develop an unwanted health symptom
  • You’ve had a busy week at work, been successful but need to rest up during the weekend

Key learning: your stress phase is over, the body regenerates and some healing takes place

How can you work to break a chronic health cycle?
Much is spoken about this but my learning and opinion is that you need to find the Root Cause to the problematic health symptom.
To uncover the root cause to a physical health symptom we explore troublesome emotions, negative beliefs and stressors, and discover that tweaks in social and lifestyle management are useful too. You will then experience impressive improvements in your emotional and physical health.

Key Point: A physical health problem is symbolic; a manifestation of a much deeper emotional issue

My training as a Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coach will help to support and navigate your journey so that you fully appreciate and discover that there is so much you can do to improve your health.

Good health is everything.
Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coaching offers this amazing free download.
