The 3 symptoms, Ovarian Cysts, Polycystic Ovaries (PCO) Polycystic Ovary Syndrome PCOS, appear similar, but are not the same.
The information quoted comes from reliable online sources.
Quote: Many women have Ovarian Cysts at some point in their life. Most ovarian cysts present little or no discomfort and are harmless. The majority disappear without treatment within a few months.
Quote: The difference between Polycystic Ovaries and Ovarian Cysts is that polycystic ovaries result in substantial hormonal imbalance, compared to ‘harmless’ ovarian cysts.
It is possible for women to have multiple ovarian cysts without suffering from PolyCystic Ovary Syndrome.
PCOS symptoms will usually present during teenage years.
Quote: Polycystic Ovary Syndrome: In order for a woman to be diagnosed with PCOS, she needs to have at least two of the following three features:
- Irregular or lack of periods
- High levels of male hormones
- Polycystic ovaries, i.e. where ovaries are enlarged and contain several fluid-filled sacs (follicles)
Th exact cause of PCOS is unknown, but it can be a hereditary trait and related to abnormal hormone levels, including high levels of insulin. Although PCOS has no known cure, the symptoms of PCOS can be treated. Medication prescribed to treat symptoms such as irregular periods, infertility, excessive hair growth.
Those with PCOS with whom I have spoken or given questionnaires, were told by medical practitioners or after medical tests, that they have this health symptom.
The following comments are PCOS related and come from young women I interviewed and/or worked with.
“I started my period when I was 14 and they were irregular from the start – I could go months without one”.
“I was advised to go onto the pill. I wasn’t even sexually active at that time but my main issue was the irregular periods and so this fixed that as well as regulating my hormones. I was also offered some diabetes drug to sort out the insulin issue but I declined”.
“I thought I was a freak and felt very embarrassed by it”.
“The only thing I’ve ever blamed PCOS for was the difficulty to conceive.”
PCO related
“I had been on the Pill for years. After coming off the Pill I conceived straight away. My diagnosis of PCO came when trying for our 2nd child.”
PCOS is more complex, more going on.
PCO can be explored more straightforwardly.

As a Lifestyle Prescriptions® Health Coach, I offer a client insight and release from e.g. chronic health complaint. I assist clients to find and clear the Root Cause of the symptom.
I look at each client symptom separately. Together we unravel the WHY: the reason why this has presented. The reason which often leave doctors unable to state.
Lifestyle Prescriptions and Root Cause
You will probably have asked your medical doctor on occasion,
“Why do I have got this going on again?”
The doctor may say that they cannot be specific. They offer medicine and treatments, referral and so on.
I suggest that you hold many answers to the WHY. The medical route can still be investigated and followed, but it is within your power for your health symptom to not return.
Release the root cause.
Here’s what is going on
Stress, Beliefs, Emotions, Lifestyle and Social aspects play their part in your health problem, but Stress plays the very large part. There is a pattern of behaviour at work. For self-healing to be initiated naturally, effectively and efficiently, this is what needs to happen:
- Find the root cause to the health symptom.
- Use the innate knowledge the client holds, relating to Stress, Emotions, Beliefs etc to unravel that root cause.
- Work with specific modalities to release what no longer serves.
I help clients to pinpoint why and how a chronic reproductive or intimate health symptom impacts life and work.
The process is the same for most physical health symptoms.
I will help you to investigate and potentially fix this problem so that you can be free from the symptom and empowered to live life more fully.
