In 2013 I wrote my first book: Survive and Thrive after Trauma. It was the book I was never going to write. The autobiographical first section of the book kept causing me emotional pain and all of a sudden, I knew I had to write it down.

The complete Introduction to the book is on my website.
I want to highlight some aspects of
- the book I was never going to write.
- the why I wrote it.
- how I feel about it now.
The book I wasn’t going to write:
I am very proud of my book. It became obvious one day that I had to write this book. I am an EFT practitioner working in Emotional Healing and I believe one often becomes drawn to certain professions in life if you have lived through something traumatically challenging. The first section covers a marriage failing due to alcohol issues, pending divorce and death.
I doubt we would have Counsellors and Emotional Healers if life had not touched some of us deeply and profoundly. Perhaps we believe we can help another to avoid traps we fell into, or we hope that others can benefit from our experience and learnings.
Why I wrote it
Because I had to. One day it literally just dawned on me that I had to do it.
I planned the process and was envigorated to start. The subject was sad, grim, traumatic but intuitively I knew it could help me, AND it could help others.
I knew the story inside out and I believe now that it was an effort to help expunge the whole sad tale. Four years earlier I had discovered EFT (Emotional Healing Technique) and Energy/Emotional Healing therapies.
Those
- powerful therapeutic tools
- learnings and knowledge gained from my new journey
- swaps and guinea pig sessions with colleagues
all played a part in my healing journey.
However sharing the story with the Intention to help others seemed most appropriate.
And it felt good.
However the book has two other sections
- Resources to help Emotional Healing; with explanation for a deeper understanding of emotive terminology and emotional conditions.
- Contributions from others now thriving : sharing their positve learning whether from a physical or emotional trauma.
How do I feel today about my first book?
I have thoughts that it is a heavy topic but many of us suffer emotional pain so I hope that those ready to improve their life, can gain something from the book: a word, a phrase, a treatment, an appreciation of their issue, a good Intention from a contributor of the book.
What I really hope for is that you or someone going through emotional pain can begin to appreciate that you deserve to move on: there is so much good stuff out there to enjoy.
My aim:
- to help others grow in confidence
- to guide them in their journey to better
When you feel confident life appears easier.
