
Self-Awareness can help to recognise Overwhelm. Clients frequently tell me that they can’t stop taking on too much
, constantly overdoing things, but you know it only requires a new perception, a self-recognition, a glimpse of a negative behaviour, and then we can recognise the act, rein it in and achieve increased contentment, satisfaction and inner quiet.
In addition to recognising this trait some form of organisation is required because many of us have busy lives. I now coach clients to add Emotional Time Management to their planning. When we keep our foot hard pressed on the pedal we are self-harming in the same way that anyone self-harms; we know it is wrong yet we often do very little to change the habit.
Our body will tell us when we have pushed ourselves too far. But why do many of us have to reach a level of Overwhelm before we slow down?
I touched on this with my ‘Boot Self-Sabotage Out of Your Life’ Talk last week. Our inner voice which some of us think is boss keeps chirping things like:
- I have to do this.
- I promised I’d help out.
- I’ve got to make everyone happy.
- I better get this right.
- I feel anxious .
- It’s not good enough so I will need to do it all again.
- It’s my role, it’s up to me to…..(Question yourself-Who told you that it’s up to you? Was it you?)
These are the bossy voices which many of us think are correctly advising us in our day to day life but I’m afraid that is just not true! The subconscious which we work with 90%+ of the time does not know right from wrong, true from false. It’s only a story we have told ourselves from some incident or life trauma which happened to us perhaps a while ago and certainly no longer serves.
Becoming more self-aware allows us to recognise these old beliefs as excess baggage. Dump old beliefs as best you can!
If this Inner Voice starts causing emotional distress, dis-ease, then a growing self-awareness allows us to recognise these old beliefs as excess baggage. EFT and Matrix Reimprinting can achieve some form of magic when used with a trained practitioner. I say magic because often clients cannot believe the change of energy and the mindset shift which they experience.
