7 April 2011 Gosh it’s a beautiful day, and I’m choosing to have a rant! An item on the news this morning was about the fact that many more people are on anti-depressants, than before. Life is so challenging now they were saying that more and more people cannot cope without – the pills. I’ve been on the pills, twice. Thank goodness, and for whatever reason- I felt better (not enough hours to go into that just now). BUT, teacher with statistics now Emotional distress leads to , they reckon, 95% of physical illnesses. 90% of people who attend the Dr. go for stress related illnesses. (I am leaving myself open to being ‘told off’ about these facts, but- check them out if you wish.) They said this morning that the emotional issues which are leading to the physical issues, need to be addressed first. Talk therapy. Also consider the referrals that are asked for 1. the shoulder pain – ‘the responsibility on my shoulders is too much’ 2. my hips and knees pain – what should the physiotherapist treat first- ‘ I am unable to take myself forward’ ( these first 2 were mine) 3 I feel sick in my stomach 4 My head feels as if it’s going to burst 5 My back is really causing me problems ‘ my support system is struggling under the strain’
These emotional responses, if we assume they are stress related, and not a physical injury, can really get us down. The older we get, the less tolerant our body is to dealing with these continual triggers. The emotional distress is ‘trigger related’. When that happens, physical distress develops.
Eventually, a Dr’s guidance is sought.
I am pushing my point today because I consider this therapy can be widely used by individuals, and therapists, to help people with day to day living anxieties. Of course guidance, medical help and medicine from doctors, specialists, psychiatrists and psychologists etc should be sought. I am not suggesting otherwise. Always assume the specialist is working on your behalf with his/her best intetions.
I have a level 3 in Counselling, no diploma. I felt counselling was a little slow and in some regards, very slow because, considerable time can pass while waiting for the client to sort out what is needed. I feel the use of EFT gets to the problem very much faster, if the client is ready! EFT is a form of ‘psychological acupuncture’ Tapping on energy points and verbalising with a statement relevant to the client’s main issue. Martix ReImprinting is a progression of EFT. The horrible memory, or the desire to project a successful vision for the future, can be reImprinted in the sub-conscious. The sub-conscious does not know what is right or what is wrong. It does not know what is true or what is false. ( A memory will still have happened- the players will have played their part, but the memory can be changed. Why persecute yourself with the same pictures playing inside your head, if they are horrible pictures, these pictures could have been running for so many years.)
I feel I must stop now.
Have a read about EFT. If nothing else – it makes fascinating reading.
Till next time
